Message from the Year 7&8 Coordinator

Dear Parents and students,

I would like to welcome back all students. I hope you had a fantastic and restful holiday during the summer break.

I would like to extend a warm welcome to all new students and families. Beginning a new school can be tough for students sometimes and it is normal to feel nervous as you step into a new environment. Our college is very welcoming, but if you feel you need extra assistance in settling into the school, you can ask for help from our Student Support Services and from myself.

This term has proceeded quickly and it has been an interesting and fun-filled time with an array of learning opportunities and experiences. Students have already participated in a variety of different activities this term and it has been a pleasure to see so many happy faces at our school.

The Year Sevens started the term with a special orientation day program where students were engaged in various activities and information sessions during the day.

As you know, Sirius College has a uniform policy and we expect all of our students to comply with this policy. This means that students are required to wear full uniform. Students will be issued uniform passes if they are missing uniform items. Please keep in mind that after 5 passes, an afterschool detention will be issued.

It has been brought to my attention that some of our new students are not aware of our “no jewellery policy”. Students are only allowed to wear a wristwatch and one earring in each ear lobe. I suggest that all new students read the student handbook which is available on our school website.

Lessons begin at 8:50 am every day Lateness to school on a regular basis has a negative effect on student learning, especially when they are missing the same subject regularly. This will lead to significant gaps in knowledge which will be reflected in student assessment. Lateness also creates disruptions to the class and interferes with other students learning time. Please encourage your daughters to be on time so that they get the most out of their education.
